An article entitled “Good morning Principal” In the newsletter of our affiliated secondary school, the Aberdeen Baptist Lui Ming Choi College prompts me much reflection.

After taking over the role as acting Principal one of my daily ‘must do’ activities is to go to our Kindergarten, in connecting our lovely boys and girls and their parents, by saying hi.  Knowing that the parents have been teaching their kids at home, or urging them when reaching the main entrance of the Kindergarten to greet everyone, in the first couple months, most kids behave indifferently.  Until one morning when I greet a shy little girl by her name, and to my greatest content, she responded “Principal Pak, good morning” loud and clear.  It reminds me if anyone, including our kids, are being recognised and respect as part of the community, their performance and behaviour would always exceed our expectations.

We individual are the wonderful creation of God, have unique identity and given with names（Genesis 2:7）.  No matter their personality and habits, we would endeavour to flourish God’s love to every boys and girls of our Kindergarten, raising them to have good character.

It is really a great challenge for me in calling people’s names at instant when meeting them,  particularly when our kids entering the Kindergarten at almost the same time.  Even after lifting of the Mask Rules I still refresh their names stored in my phone before entering the Kindergarten premises.  It is so great at this juncture that the School Management Committee had at its meeting on 3 March agreed to submit our Principal selected for seeking endorsement from our sponsoring body.  The Principal selected is the driver in the field of quality education, specialised in training kids with different ability and potential.  It is expected that the whole process would be completed around Easter, and by that time, I would have the privilege in upgrading my memory cells by applying the methodology of the Principal selected.
